The company was incorporated in 1961 and listed at the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE) in 1971. Carbacid Investments has one subsidiary, Carbacid (CO2) Limited, which mines carbon dioxide in Rongai, Uplands and Kereita in Kiambu, and fills the gas in cylinders at its Nairobi plant. The largest consumers of Carbacid products are soft drink and beer manufacturers.
